For athletes outside of hockey

Move Better. Become a More Capable Athlete.

You don’t have to play hockey to benefit from better hips, stronger ankles, more controlled shoulders or a body that can move through the positions your sport demands.

The Hood Athletic Edge Hockey Mobility Membership is built around the joints of the human body — not just the sport of hockey.

We coach mostly hockey players.

But what we’re really doing is making human beings move better — so they can express more of their athletic ability.

Who this is for

This is for the athlete who wants their body to keep up with their sport.

This is a strong fit if:

  • You train or compete regularly
  • You feel physically limited in certain positions
  • You want more usable range
  • You want more active control
  • You constantly feel tight in the same areas
  • You want better preparation before training
  • You want structured recovery work
  • You want to build more confidence in how your body moves

Not ideal for:

Someone looking for a one-exercise cure or guaranteed injury prevention.

Sport-specific examples

Different sport. Same principles.

Basketball

Hip and ankle mobility can influence squat depth, cutting positions, deceleration and landing mechanics.

Baseball

Hip rotation, thoracic rotation and shoulder capacity all contribute to how the body organizes rotational movement.

Soccer

Hip rotation, adductor capacity, ankle movement and lower-body control matter repeatedly through sprinting, kicking and changing direction.

Golf

Hip and thoracic rotation help create options for rotational movement through the swing.

Tennis

Rotation, shoulder capacity and lower-body control all contribute to high-speed movement and repeated change of direction.

Strength athletes

More usable range can create more options for squatting, hinging, pressing and pulling while giving the athlete more control through difficult positions.

Important note

  • Improving one joint doesn’t automatically improve performance.
  • It creates more physical options.
  • And it removes limitations that may be holding your performance back.

Your sport may be different. Your body is still human.

Basketball asks for deep hip and ankle positions.

Baseball asks for rotation through the hips, spine and shoulders.

Soccer asks for hip control, adductor strength and repeated force through the lower body.

Golf asks for rotation.

Tennis asks for rotation, deceleration and shoulder capacity.

Football asks for speed, force production and the ability to absorb load.

Different sports.

Same human body.

And underneath all of them are the same basic questions:

  • Can your joints access the positions your sport requires?
  • Can you actively control those positions?
  • Can you create force there?
  • Can you absorb force there?
  • Can you move in and out of those positions at speed?

That is what Hood Athletic Edge mobility is built to help train.

Better human movement creates a better athlete.

Hockey is our language. Human movement is the system.

Why does so much of the platform talk about hockey?

Because hockey is where I come from.

I played professionally for years.

It is the sport I understand most deeply.

And most of the athletes I coach are hockey players.

So naturally, many of the examples, explanations and “why” behind the training are framed through hockey.

But the actual training is built around the human body.

Hip internal rotation does not belong to hockey.

Ankle dorsiflexion does not belong to hockey.

Shoulder rotation does not belong to hockey.

Thoracic rotation does not belong to hockey.

Joint control does not belong to hockey.

End-range strength does not belong to hockey.

They are human capacities.

We simply use them to help hockey players move better on the ice.

The same improvements can help another athlete move better in their sport.

We are not teaching hockey joints. We are training human joints.

The ankle after surgery — the plate, the screws, and the start of everything

The real performance bottleneck

Sometimes your skill is ahead of your body.

You may already know exactly what you want to do.

Cut harder. Rotate farther. Get lower. Accelerate faster. Reach a position. Absorb force. Change direction.

But your body may not currently have the range, control or strength to express it efficiently.

That creates a gap between what your brain wants to do and what your body can currently execute.

That gap matters in every sport.

The goal of the Membership is to help reduce that gap.

Mobility is not just stretching

Flexibility lets you reach a position. Mobility helps you use it.

Being able to stretch into a position is not the same as being able to actively control it.

And active control becomes even more important when sport adds speed, force, fatigue, contact, rotation, deceleration and unpredictable movement.

That is why Hood Athletic Edge goes beyond passive stretching.

We train usable range, active control, end-range strength, rotational capacity, joint-specific strength, movement quality and dynamic athletic integration.

The goal is not to make you better at mobility drills.

The goal is to make you a more capable athlete.

Founder story

I built this because my own body stopped letting me play the way I wanted.

My background is hockey.

But the problem I ran into was human.

My hips stopped moving properly.

My lower back and SI joint compensated.

My body became something I had to manage every day.

At one point my hip internal rotation was almost nonexistent, and I was being told where my hips were eventually heading.

The turning point came when I stopped asking: “What muscle is tight?”

And started asking: “What movement is actually missing?”

That led me into joint-specific mobility training.

Better movement gave me more athletic options.

I started rebuilding range.

Then control.

Then strength.

Then eventually integrating those changes back into athletic movement.

The result wasn’t just that I became “more mobile.”

I became a more capable athlete again.

That is the entire reason this system exists.

The four jobs of the system

Prepare. Rebuild. Recover. Bulletproof.

Different physical problems require different solutions.

The goal is not to stretch everything.

The goal is to understand what the joint actually needs.

Prepare

Prepare

Get the joints and ranges you already have ready before training or competition.

Rebuild

Rebuild

Work on meaningful ranges that are restricted or missing.

Recover

Recover

Use lower-intensity work between demanding practices, games and training sessions.

Bulletproof

Bulletproof

Build more strength and active control through the range you already possess.

Different problem. Different tool.

Interactive Mobility Guide

Tell us what your body is doing — not what sport you play.

The Interactive Mobility Guide helps you navigate the platform based on what is actually happening with your body.

  • My hip rotation is terrible on one side.
  • My ankle is limiting my squat.
  • My shoulder feels restricted overhead.
  • My groin always feels tight.
  • I have plenty of passive flexibility but almost no active control.

The Guide can ask follow-up questions and help direct you toward a logical place to begin inside the Membership.

Your sport gives context.

But the joint limitation is what helps determine the training.

The Interactive Mobility Guide

The Interactive Mobility Guide is an educational training tool and does not replace medical assessment, diagnosis or treatment.

Interactive Mobility Guide

Interactive Mobility Guide

A navigational tool that points you to the most suitable session for whatever your body needs today — across every library and every joint.

You can navigate by joint, goal, training category, time available, level of difficulty and current need.

The platform is not organized around hockey positions.

It is organized around the human body.

The first 90 days

“But where do I start?”

I don’t want you joining, seeing hundreds of options, and immediately having to guess again.

So for our first 100 members, your first 90 days can already be mapped out.

And for most athletes, the hips are where the most usable range has quietly gone missing.

Built from experience. Refined through coaching.

The system didn’t come from reading one textbook and deciding I understood mobility.

It came from years of learning, experimenting, getting things wrong, working with coaches and practitioners, rebuilding my own body, then applying and refining these principles with athletes.

Most of the athletes quoted below play hockey — but the hips, groins, backs and shoulders they’re describing are the same joints your sport is asking for.

“Dylan has been crucial in helping me with my adductor issues. I had recurring groin injuries for years, but since I started working with him, my adductors have never felt stronger.”

Guillaume MaillardHC Sierre | Swiss League

“I’ve battled hip and back issues my whole life, and by the end of the summer all of my pain was out the window. I felt more efficient on the ice than ever before and honestly had never felt better heading into a season.”

Chase DafoeRockford IceHogs | AHL

“Hood Athletic Edge was a game changer for me. This training greatly improved my pain management and helped keep me healthy throughout the season.”

Cody AlmondNHL | Swiss National League

“Every year I’ve seen growth in my performance, strength, and overall movement. His injury prevention and rehab work has been a huge part of staying healthy.”

Smyth RebmanSpokane Chiefs | WHL

“Training with Dylan allowed me to access ranges of motion I didn’t think I had and build strength at my end ranges to help prevent injury.”

Brandon McMillanNHL | KHL

What you’re actually building

Your sport changes the demands. Better movement gives you more options to meet them.

This isn’t about becoming obsessed with mobility. It’s the opposite.

The goal is to stop thinking about the hip, the ankle or the shoulder every time you compete.

Range you can control. Strength at the ends of it. Capacity that holds up when the game speeds up.

  • More usable range.
  • More active control.
  • More strength where you were weakest.
  • More options when it matters.

Your brain decides what it wants to do — and your body lets you do it.

That’s what better movement buys an athlete.

Questions

I don’t play hockey. Is this actually for me?
Yes. Hockey is in the name because hockey players are our primary coaching population and the examples are framed that way. The training itself is organized around joints — hips, ankles, shoulders, spine, knees, wrists and elbows — and around what each joint needs. Those are human capacities, not hockey ones.
Is the programming sport-specific to my sport?
No, and I won’t pretend it is. It’s joint-specific. You bring the sport context; the system trains the limitation. That’s why athletes in basketball, baseball, soccer, golf, tennis, combat sports and strength sports can all use the same libraries productively.
I’ve already tried mobility. Why would this be different?
That’s exactly how I felt. Hood Athletic Edge isn’t designed around simply giving you more stretches. We separate restoring range from developing active control and strength through that range, and use different tools depending on what you’re trying to accomplish. Some of these techniques may be completely different from what you’ve previously thought of as mobility training.
How much time does this take?
Sessions run from about five minutes up to an hour. Ten to fifteen focused minutes a day, done consistently, is a legitimate starting point — consistency beats volume here.
I have an old injury. Can I still use this?
No. Hood Athletic Edge provides fitness training and education. It does not diagnose or treat injuries and isn’t intended to replace medical care, physiotherapy or another appropriate healthcare professional. If you’re injured, experiencing significant or unexplained pain, or have medical concerns, seek appropriate professional assessment. That said — once you’ve been cleared to start rebuilding after an injury, the techniques in this system can be incredibly powerful. This isn’t a rehab program, but progressive isometrics are arguably the best entry point post-injury: realigning connective tissue, remodelling scar tissue, rebuilding capacity, rebuilding trust in the joint and the range itself — and then building real strength at the end ranges of that motion, which is where most rehab stops short and where it matters most.
Can I cancel?
Yes. The membership is month-to-month and can be cancelled according to the membership terms. If you cancel your Founding Membership and later return, the current public membership rate will apply.

Your sport changes the demands.

Better movement gives you more options to meet them.
