Founding member launch — first 100 members only

Build a Body You Trust in the Crease.

Because getting into the position is only half the battle. Your body has to be prepared for what happens once you’re there.

Goaltending puts your body into some of the most demanding and compromised positions in hockey.

Butterfly. RVH. Deep hip rotation. Lateral pushes. Reaches. Scramble recoveries. Repeated drops to the ice and back to your feet.

But you’re not performing those movements in a controlled environment.

You’re doing them while tracking a puck through traffic. While players are driving the net at full speed. While your defenceman is battling someone through the crease.

And sometimes while another player is literally falling into you when you’re already down in butterfly.

That’s why a goalie doesn’t just need enough mobility to get into these positions. You need the range, strength and control to own them.

And the capacity to repeatedly handle the demands of practices, games and an entire season.

Goaltending doesn’t happen in a controlled environment

Your mobility has to hold up when hockey gets messy.

There’s a huge difference between being able to demonstrate a position during a mobility session… and being able to own that position in a game.

Think about what you’re actually asking your body to handle.

You drop into butterfly. Your hips are already working through demanding ranges.

Then the puck rebounds into traffic. You rotate. Push. Reach. Recover.

A player drives the crease. Your defenceman makes contact with him.

Now someone is falling toward you while your hips and knees are already in a compromised position.

You don’t get to choose what happens next. Your body has to respond.

That’s why goalie mobility can’t only be about becoming more flexible. You need access to the ranges your position demands. But you also need:

  • Active control through those ranges.
  • Strength at the edges of them.
  • Capacity in the tissues supporting them.
  • Movement options when the play doesn’t happen exactly the way you expected.

Because that’s goaltending. Controlled movement inside an uncontrolled environment.

And when the range, strength or control isn’t there, simply stretching harder isn’t necessarily the answer.

You may need to start actually training those ranges.

For a goalie, more range isn’t always the answer

Two goalies can struggle with the same position for different reasons.

Here’s where understanding your body matters.

Goalie #1

Can’t comfortably access the range the position demands.

That may mean the range itself needs attention.

Goalie #2

Can access the position… but lacks active control, strength or capacity there.

That’s a different problem. And it requires a different training strategy.

Can you handle that position under real hockey demands?

  • Can you repeatedly access it?
  • Can you produce and absorb force there?
  • Can you transition out of it?
  • Can you maintain control when the environment becomes unpredictable?

Because the goal isn’t to become the most flexible goalie. The goal is to build movement you can actually use.

That’s why randomly collecting stretches can only take you so far.

Different limitation. Different tool.

“But I’ve already tried mobility.”

So had I.

In fact, I spent almost seven years chasing answers.

I’m not a goalie.

But after 15 years of professional hockey, I learned firsthand what happens when the demands of the sport begin exceeding what your body can comfortably handle.

I’d broken my leg.

Gone through two surgeries.

Spent months going back and forth through rehab.

Eventually lost almost all of the internal rotation in my hips.

My lower back and SI joint were constantly compensating.

And I was eventually told that hip replacements would likely be in my future.

I was still a professional hockey player.

And I was doing everything I thought an athlete was supposed to do.

  • Treatment
  • Rehab
  • Stretching
  • Rolling
  • Strength training
  • Mobility routines
  • Different exercises
  • Different practitioners

Some of it helped.

But too often, I found myself trapped in the same cycle:

Something hurts → get it treated → feel better → train → problem comes back → repeat.

I didn’t want to become better at managing my body.

I wanted to understand how to rebuild it.

The lesson my broken ankle taught me

Treatment and rebuilding aren’t always the same thing.

When I broke my leg in my mid-20s, I required two surgeries.

I spent months in rehab trying to get back.

That experience eventually taught me something that would shape the entire philosophy behind Hood Athletic Edge.

Great therapists and practitioners can be incredibly valuable. Treatment can help.

But at some point, I realized I couldn’t expect someone else to permanently give me back the movement, strength and capacity my body had lost.

I had to participate in building it.

That became one of the beliefs I still coach by today:

If someone else does it for you, you’re borrowing it. If you build it, you own it.

That doesn’t mean doing everything alone.

It means becoming an active participant in understanding and improving your own body.

And for years, I didn’t know how to do that.

The ankle after surgery — the plate, the screws, and the start of everything

The discovery that changed how I trained

Then I found something I had never tried before.

After almost seven years of searching, I bought a mobility membership from a coach online.

Honestly, I figured: what the hell. I’ve tried everything else.

Then I opened it. And started seeing techniques I’d never done before.

That blew my mind.

After years of rehab, treatment, strength training, stretching and mobility… how was I still seeing completely new ways of training my joints?

But what changed everything wasn’t simply that the techniques were new.

They were logical.

For the first time, mobility wasn’t: “This feels tight, so stretch it.”

  • How to assess individual joints.
  • How to identify specific ranges I was missing.
  • How to progressively work on restoring those ranges.
  • How to develop strength at the edges of them.
  • How to build active control over the range I’d created.
  • How to integrate that capacity back into strength, speed, power and athletic movement.

Suddenly mobility wasn’t something I did for ten minutes before training.

It became part of how I trained.

How this was different from anything I’d tried

This isn’t “better stretching.”

If you’ve already tried goalie mobility routines, stretching programs or flexibility work, I don’t want you thinking: “Why would this be any different?”

Because this isn’t an offer to simply do more of what you’ve already been doing.

Some of the techniques and training concepts inside Hood Athletic Edge may be completely different from what you’ve previously thought of as mobility training.

Mobility isn’t simply about creating more passive range. It’s about developing usable range you can control, strengthen and eventually express in athletic movement.

And for a goalie, that distinction becomes incredibly important.

Because you don’t just need to demonstrate hip rotation on the floor. You need to use it when you’re reacting to a play.

You don’t just need to get into butterfly. You need to own the position.

And you need enough capacity that when someone crashes the crease, a rebound changes direction, or you’re forced into an awkward recovery… your body has options.

The night everything changed for me

Six-point night. A hattie and three apples.

After two years of applying these principles, I put up back-to-back 80+ point seasons and in both had 40+ goals.

But the numbers aren’t actually the part I remember most.

It’s one game. The final game of that second season.

I dominated.

But after the game, I wasn’t sitting there thinking about the points.

I vividly remember sitting in my stall in the dressing room thinking:

Holy sh**… that was fun.

Everything had felt effortless.

I felt incredibly stable. I could move wherever I wanted.

My brain decided what I wanted to do… and my body just did it.

I wasn’t thinking about my hips. I wasn’t worrying about my back. I wasn’t wondering whether my body would cooperate.

For the first time in years… I felt like I was 18 again. Free. Athletic. Confident. Just playing hockey.

And sitting in that stall, another thought hit me: how many other hockey players need this?

Every dressing room I’d ever been in had players dealing with something. A hip. A groin. A back. An ankle. A shoulder.

Every hockey player has something.

The exact demands may be different for a forward, defenceman or goalie. But the frustration is remarkably similar.

You want your brain focused on the game. Not managing your body.

That realization became one of the reasons Hood Athletic Edge exists today.

The Hood Athletic Edge system

Your body doesn’t need the same thing every day.

That’s why Hood Athletic Edge is organized around four different jobs:

Prepare

Prepare

Prepare the specific joints, tissues and ranges you’re about to demand before practice, games or training.

Rebuild

Rebuild

Use the most effective techniques there are for restoring usable range of motion and movement quality in any joint — real range you keep, not range you have to stretch back into every day.

Bulletproof

Bulletproof

Develop strength, control and capacity through ranges you already possess — especially important when you’re asking demanding positions to withstand the unpredictable demands of hockey.

Recover

Recover

Use lower-intensity mobility and joint work strategically between demanding practices, games and training sessions.

Different problem. Different tool.

Interactive Mobility Guide

How do you know which one you need?

That’s the problem with most workout libraries.

Even if they contain great exercises… you still have to figure out: What should I do? Why should I do it? Where should I begin?

That’s why we built the Interactive Mobility Guide.

Tell it what’s going on.

  • My hips feel restricted in butterfly.
  • My groins constantly feel tight.
  • My hip rotation sucks.
  • I can get into the position, but I feel weak there.
  • My ankle doesn’t give me the range I want.
  • I’ve got 10 minutes before practice. What should I do?

The Guide asks focused follow-up questions and helps direct you toward relevant resources inside the Hood Athletic Edge platform.

It understands how our training libraries are organized, what different workouts target, their difficulty, their purpose and where they fit within the system.

Instead of endlessly scrolling through hundreds of workouts… you have a place to begin.

The platform gives you the tools. The Guide helps you choose the right tool.

The Interactive Mobility Guide

The Interactive Mobility Guide is an educational and platform-navigation tool. It does not diagnose injuries or replace appropriate medical assessment or treatment.

App demo

See how Hood Athletic Edge actually works

Instead of trying to explain the entire system with more words… take a look inside.

In this short demo, you’ll see how the Interactive Mobility Guide helps you navigate the platform, how the training libraries are organized, and how quickly you can go from:

  • “Something doesn’t feel right.”
  • “Here’s where I should start.”

The goal isn’t to give you hundreds of workouts and leave you to figure it out.

It’s to give you the tools — and the direction to actually use them.

What’s inside

One platform. Multiple ways to train your body.

Built from experience. Refined through coaching.

The system I use today didn’t come from reading one textbook and deciding I knew everything about mobility.

It came from years of learning. Experimenting. Getting things wrong. Working with coaches and practitioners. Rebuilding my own body. And applying and refining these principles with athletes.

Today, Hood Athletic Edge works with athletes at all stages of their hockey career and journey — from developing hockey players all the way to the highest level of professional hockey.

“Dylan has been crucial in helping me with my adductor issues. I had recurring groin injuries for years, but since I started working with him, my adductors have never felt stronger.”

Guillaume MaillardHC Sierre | Swiss League

“I’ve battled hip and back issues my whole life, and by the end of the summer all of my pain was out the window. I felt more efficient on the ice than ever before and honestly had never felt better heading into a season.”

Chase DafoeRockford IceHogs | AHL

“Hood Athletic Edge was a game changer for me. This training greatly improved my pain management and helped keep me healthy throughout the season.”

Cody AlmondNHL | Swiss National League

“Every year I’ve seen growth in my performance, strength, and overall movement. His injury prevention and rehab work has been a huge part of staying healthy.”

Smyth RebmanSpokane Chiefs | WHL

“Training with Dylan allowed me to access ranges of motion I didn’t think I had and build strength at my end ranges to help prevent injury.”

Brandon McMillanNHL | KHL

Your best games should be about reading the play — not reading your body.

The puck moves. You read it. You react.

Traffic arrives. The play breaks down. Someone gets pushed into the crease. You scramble.

And through all of it… your attention should be on the puck and the play.

Not: “How does my groin feel?”

Not: “Is my hip going to let me get there?”

Not: “Can my body handle this position?”

The goal of mobility training isn’t to make you obsessed with mobility. It’s to build movement you don’t have to think about.

  • You push.
  • Drop.
  • Recover.
  • Compete.

Your brain sees what needs to happen. Your body has the movement options to respond.

And when hockey gets messy… you trust your body to handle it.

That’s the freedom I eventually experienced again in my own game. And that’s what I want more athletes to build.

Questions

I’m a goalie. Is this actually built for the demands of my position?
The platform is organized around the joints, ranges, movement capacities and training goals that underpin athletic movement. For goalies, that can include areas such as hip rotation, groin/adductor capacity, ankles, lower-body control and preparation for the demanding positions repeatedly used in the crease. The Interactive Mobility Guide helps you navigate the broader platform based on what you’re trying to improve.
I’ve already tried goalie mobility routines. Why would this be different?
Because the objective isn’t simply to give you more stretches. Hood Athletic Edge separates restoring range from developing active control and strength through that range, and provides different training tools depending on what you’re trying to accomplish. Some of these techniques may be completely different from the mobility work you’ve previously done.
Will this make me more flexible?
Increasing available range may be one component depending on what you’re missing. But flexibility alone isn’t the goal. We’re interested in developing usable range — movement you can actively control, strengthen and eventually integrate into athletic movement.
Do I need to be extremely flexible to play goalie?
No. The goal isn’t to chase extreme ranges for their own sake. It’s to progressively develop the movement options, control and capacity appropriate for your body and the demands you’re asking it to handle.
Do I have to complete the 90-Day Hip Rebuild?
No. It’s an optional structured progression included with the Founding Member offer. For goalies who want to prioritize their hips, it provides a clear starting roadmap. Otherwise, the Interactive Mobility Guide and broader libraries can help you navigate toward other relevant resources.
Why 90 days?
We’re not trying to sell you a seven-day “fix.” Developing movement, strength and control requires consistency and progressive training. The 90-day structure gives you time to learn the system, train consistently and progress instead of jumping randomly between exercises.
What happens after the first 100 members?
New-member pricing becomes $59 CAD/month. The Rebuild Your Hips in 90 Days Program ($197 Value) will no longer be included free with the standard membership. Founding Members who maintain continuous membership keep their $39/month rate.
Is this physical therapy?
No. Hood Athletic Edge provides fitness training and education. It does not diagnose or treat injuries and isn’t intended to replace medical care, physiotherapy or another appropriate healthcare professional. If you’re injured, experiencing significant or unexplained pain, or have medical concerns, seek appropriate professional assessment. That said — once you’ve been cleared to start rebuilding after an injury, the techniques in this system can be incredibly powerful. This isn’t a rehab program, but progressive isometrics are arguably the best entry point post-injury: realigning connective tissue, remodelling scar tissue, rebuilding capacity, rebuilding trust in the joint and the range itself — and then building real strength at the end ranges of that motion, which is where most rehab stops short and where it matters most.
Can I cancel?
Yes. The membership is month-to-month and can be cancelled according to the membership terms. If you cancel your Founding Membership and later return, the current public membership rate will apply.

Goaltending is unpredictable.

You don’t know where the next rebound is going.

You don’t know when someone is going to drive the crease.

You don’t know when a player is going to get knocked into you.

You don’t know when you’re going to be forced into a position you never planned to enter. You can’t control all of that. But you can train the body you’re asking to handle it.

So…

  • Assess it.
  • Train it.
  • Build it.
  • Own it.

You already spend thousands of hours developing your ability to read plays, track pucks and make saves.

Your body is what allows you to express all of it.

Train it accordingly.

“If someone else does it for you, you’re borrowing it. If you build it, you own it.”
