IN-PERSON HOCKEY PERFORMANCE TRAINING

Train In An Environment Built To Make You A Better Hockey Player

High-touch hockey performance coaching that combines movement quality, joint-specific training, strength, power, speed, and athletic development inside one integrated system.

MORE THAN GENERIC WORKOUTS

The Goal Is Not To Make You Tired. The Goal Is To Make You Better.

Hood Athletic Edge in-person training is built around one question:

What does this athlete need to become a better mover and a better hockey player?

That means we are not simply running everyone through the same circuit.

We look at movement quality.
We look at joint function.
We look at strength.
We look at power.
We look at speed.
And we coach the athlete in front of us.

The training should have a reason. Every exercise should support the athlete rather than exist because it looks difficult.

TRAIN FOR HOCKEY. NOT FOR THE GYM.

 THE IN-PERSON COACHING MODEL

Assess. Prepare. Build. Express.

01

Assess

Understand the athlete first — goals, current limitations, movement quality, training history, and where more individual assessment may be useful.

02

Prepare

Use CARs, joint-specific preparation, isometrics, lift-offs, and mobility work where appropriate so the athlete is ready for the training demand ahead.

03

Build

Develop strength through usable ranges, then progressively layer hypertrophy, strength, and force-production work based on the athlete’s level and goals.

04

Express

Progress into jumps, throws, sprinting, dynamic mobility, power, speed, and athletic movement so the capacity built in the gym can be expressed at higher velocity.

WHAT A SESSION SHOULD FEEL LIKE

Coached From The First Car To The Last Rep

An in-person session should feel different from simply showing up and following a workout on a screen.

The athlete is being watched.
Positions are being coached.
Range is being adjusted.
Load is being changed.
Technique is being corrected.
And if something does not look or feel right, the session changes.

That is the advantage of in-person coaching: the program has structure, but the coaching responds to the athlete in real time.

TRAINING OPTIONS OVERVIEW

Choose The Level Of Coaching That Fits You

Every option follows the same Hood Athletic Edge movement-to-performance philosophy. The difference is the level of individualization, group environment, and training goal.

ELITE SMALL-GROUP TRAINING

ELITE OFF-SEASON GROUP TRAINING

Junior • Collegiate • Professional-Level Athletes

Our highest-level small-group environment for serious players who want competitive energy without losing individual coaching.

The group follows a structured off-season progression, while movement needs, joint work, loading, and coaching cues can still be adjusted athlete by athlete.

Best for: serious players who want a high-performance offseason environment and individualized coaching inside a small group.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

BUILD THE ATHLETE BEFORE YOU CHASE BIG NUMBERS.

Youth athletes do not need to train like miniature professional players.

They need to learn how to move, control their body, build strength safely, coordinate athletic positions, and develop confidence in the gym.

The goal is to create the physical foundation they can build on for years.

PRIVATE 1-ON-1 TRAINING

THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF INDIVIDUALIZATION.

Private coaching is for athletes whose goals, limitations, injury history, schedule, or development needs require the full session to be built around them.

Every session can be adjusted in real time based on how the athlete moves and responds.

DOUBLES TRAINING

PRIVATE-LEVEL COACHING WITH SOMEONE BESIDE YOU.

Train with a teammate, sibling, or friend while still receiving a highly coached session.

Doubles work well for athletes who want individual attention plus the energy and accountability of training with another person.

FRA + 90-DAY JOINT TRAINING SYSTEM

IF YOUR BODY IS THE PROBLEM, START BY UNDERSTANDING IT.

For athletes or active adults dealing with persistent movement restrictions, old injuries, or a joint that simply does not feel right, a more detailed assessment can help create direction.

The Functional Range Assessment looks joint by joint at usable movement and control. From there, we build a personalized progression around the areas that appear to need the most attention.

This is a movement and training assessment. It does not replace medical diagnosis, imaging, or rehabilitation when those are required.

WHY MOVEMENT QUALITY MATTERS

Better Movement Gives The Athlete More Options

Strength matters. Power matters. Speed matters.

But the athlete still needs positions they can access and control.

If a joint is meaningfully restricted, that can change how the athlete organizes movement. If range exists but cannot be controlled, that can also limit how effectively the athlete uses it.

That is why Hood Athletic Edge does not separate mobility from performance.

We build the movement foundation, then progressively teach the athlete to use it under more force and more speed.

MOVE BETTER. GET STRONGER. EXPRESS MORE OF YOUR GAME.

STORIES

The Difference Should Show Up In How The Athlete Moves

“Training with Dylan helped me access ranges of motion I didn’t even know I had — and more importantly, add strength to those end ranges. His attention to detail and depth of knowledge has helped me become a stronger, more resilient athlete and reduce injury risk. I’ve seen huge improvements toward my personal goals.”

Brandon McMillan

NHL / KHL

“I noticed immediate improvements in my explosiveness and agility on the ice. The focus on functional mobility helped me stay healthy through the season and understand exactly what I need to maintain performance.”

Cody Schiavon

NCAA (Canisius College)

“Dylan has been crucial in helping me with my adductor issues. I had recurring groin injuries for years, but since I started working with him, my adductors have never felt stronger. He introduced me to a completely new approach to training and strengthening them. On top of that, he’s a great guy—easy to talk to and someone who really understands how the body works.”

Guillaume Maillard

HC Sierre, Swiss League

“The program improved his strength, speed and flexibility. It was safe, structured and easy to follow, and taught him how to take care of his body.”

Tyler Liebel

Parent (Colorado College Alum)

“Hood Athletic Edge was a game changer for me. At this level, working hard isn’t enough — you have to work smart. This training has helped manage pain, stay healthy, and extend my longevity as an older player. What I’ve learned here is something I’ll carry with me long after my hockey career.”

Cody Almond

NHL / Swiss National League

“After years of physio with limited results, Dylan helped fully rehabilitate my broken arm. His methods were unlike anything I’d seen before, but they made complete sense.”

Matt Saretsky

KIJHL (Kelowna Chiefs)
